Privy Mark
Secret mark incorporated in the design of a coin or medal to identify the minter, or even the particular die used. The term is also used more loosely to denote any small symbol or initials appearing on a coin other than a mint mark, and is sometimes applied to the symbols associated with the trial of the Pyx found on UK coins.
